FDR Park is located SW of Dubuque, IA just behind Storybook Hill Petting Zoo on North Cascade Rd. The park, officially closed to the public for various hazards throughout the park including several sinkholes within it’s boundaries. Since it’s closure, it has been a favorite for Mountain Bikers and Hikers to explore and create new obstacles for an ever changing single track course. The park itself is a series of hills split apart by two separate valleys that create a perfect mountain bike arena. While there is no fee associated with this park, there is a curtsy that goes along with it’s use. Since it is technically closed to the public, you do enter the park at your own risk. And since the only people that upkeep the trails and area are fellow bikers and hikers, everyone must do their part and embrace the Leave No Trace element of pack it in, pack it out.
It is also common to find Police within the property as well, as they like to use the park to help train their dogs from time to time. While it has been a while since I have personally seen them, know that it is entirely possible that you might.
The area located on the western side of FDR Park is the home of the Tri-State Modelers Club, who use the access road that cuts through the park to access their RC AirField. Their website can be found here: http://www.tristatemodelers.org (seems to be down at the moment)
